Mater Dei, Southridge meet for sectional title
The Wildcats rode a 20-0 halftime edge in route to a 34-0 victory over the North Posey Vikings. Brent Weinzapfel carried the ball 20 times for 216 yards and 4 touchdowns. Next up is a trip to Huntingburg to take on the Southridge Raiders. Southridge advanced to the sectional final by defeating Tell City 26-12.
The Raiders advanced to the 2A state title game last year and
graduated quite a few seniors off that team. That hasn't stopped
Southridge from having another outstanding team this year. Led by running
back Brett Roesner, coach Kelly Murphy's Wing T attack will be on display this
Friday. The team that controls the line of scrimmage best will be the
victor in this game.

Cats battle the Knights this Saturday

In what is sure to be a physical and entertaining game, Mater Dei will look to gain
a big win Saturday as they host the 6-1 Castle Knights. The Knights hold a
4-1 mark in the SIAC with their lone loss coming to Reitz. After a tough season
a year ago, Castle has really turned it around this year. They have an outstanding
defense and an offense that is very balanced. Quarterback Graham Saiko can
throw and run well and receiver Tyler Schlaf is the main target through the air.
Spencer Charlton lleads the way on the ground for the Knights.
